This thesis studies the determinants of investments in children in developing countries. The first chapter examines impact of access to credit on household business decisions and child labor supply. The second chapter investigates the roles of economic incentives in the differential treatment that boys and girls receive in Thailand. The final chapter measures the extent to which boys receive better prenatal care in utero than girls in South and Southeast Asia.
