Abstract

The Obesity Task Force was established by the AGA Institute Research Committee at the request of the AGA Institute Governing Board. The purpose of the Task Force was to examine the current and potential roles of the gastroenterology community in addressing the severe, worldwide problem of obesity and its complications. Specifically, it was charged with recommending ways in which the AGA Institute could contribute to the solution of this important problem.
