In his commentary, Potts describes the problems associated with providing condoms and condom counseling to participants in microbicide trials.1 These problems are well known. We and others have earlier explained how they result in “the investigator’s dilemma.” We feel, however, that the solutions that Potts proposes to these problems are not helpful.URL
