Abstract
In this book, leading health, agricultural, and social scientists explore the role of health in sustainable agricultural development into the early decades of the twenty-first century. The discussions among these experts center around four topics: health policy, the current status and understanding of disease in the tropics, the relationship between health and nutrition, and the implications of health for agricultural development. The contributors work to provide a synthesis of these critical issues. The book closes with an outline of the development and design of national and international agricultural research systems that are required to meet the health and sustainability needs of developing countries.
