Add Health Cognition and Early Risk Factors for Dementia Project
Summary
The overall goal of this project is to collect and disseminate critical data on cognitive, physical, and sensory functioning and risk for Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD) in Wave VI of the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent to Adult Health (Add Health), when participants will be in their mid-40s. These new data, when combined with Add Health's existing collection of extraordinarily rich multi-level and longitudinal measures and its new Wave VI data, will facilitate the scientific community's understanding of the interplay of social, economic, behavioral, and biological factors that influence cognitive, physical, and sensory functioning in midlife and lead to ADRD in later life. Moreover, because Add Health is a diverse nationally representative sample, adding these data to Wave VI will greatly increase understanding of cognitive, physical, and sensory functioning within key health disparity populations in the United States.
