The Triangle Global Health Consortium is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the Annual Global Health Conference:
Innovation in Global Health: Bridging the innovation gap between research and implementation

Founded just four years ago, the Consortium is a non-profit member organization representing institutions from the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, the international health development NGO community, and academia. It includes 18 institutional members from the triangle and triad region of North Carolina, representing some of the best and brightest in global health. Member institutions include GlaxoSmithKline, UNC, Duke, NC State, RTI, Intrahealth, FHI 360 and others. The consortium’s purpose is to be a catalyst for the region and its member institutions: facilitating shared business growth, fostering access to talent, promoting best practice, supporting economic growth, and providing a common voice for the region in global health.
Register now to join together with a diverse array of stakeholders from the North Carolina global health community, as well as national and global leaders, to explore the groundbreaking innovations currently changing the landscape of global health. The conference will explore the successes of these innovations in research and implementation, as well as the lessons and challenges to their adoption and the opportunities to bridge the gaps in between.

Speakers include:
- Dr. Deborah L. Birx (Director of CGH Division of Global HIV/AIDS): Ambassador Birx is a renowned national and international expert in the field of HIV/AIDS. She currently serves as the U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator who oversees the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and all U.S. engagement with the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
- Dr. Timothy D. Mastro (FHI360): Dr. Timothy D. Mastro currently serves as Director of Global Health, Population and Nutrition at FHI 360.
- Mr. Alden Zecha (Sproxil): Mr. Zecha serves as Sproxil’s Chief Financial Officer and Strategist.
- Bobby Jefferson (Futures Group): Mr. Jefferson currently serves as Director of Futures Group’s Center for Development Informatics.
- Dr. Barton Haynes (Duke University, Infectious Diseases): Dr. Haynes is the Director of the Duke Human Vaccine Institute and the Duke Center for HIV/AIDS Vaccine Immunology and Immunogen Discovery.
- Dr. Laura Nyblade (RTI International): Dr. Nyblade is senior technical advisor at RTI assigned to the Health Policy Project and an expert in the estimation of the effects of stigma and discrimination in HIV and AIDS services.
- Dr. Beth Mayer Davis (UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, Chair, Nutrition): Dr. Mayer-Davis’ research focuses on diabetes prevention and management, diabetes in youth, and diabetes among African-Americans and other minority and underserved populations.
- Dr. Gerald Bloomfield (Duke University, School of Medicine, Cardiology): Dr. Bloomfield joined Duke’s faculty in 2011 as Assistant Professor of Medicine and Global Health.
- Dr. Jennifer S. Smith (UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, Epidemiology): Dr. Smith’s current research focuses on epidemiological studies of human papillomavirus (HPV) and cervical cancer worldwide (primarily in North Carolina, China, and Kenya).
- Dr. Thomas Hoerger (RTI International): Dr.Hoerger specializes in health economics, health care reform, and cost-effectiveness analysis and is the director of the Public Health Economics Program at RTI.
- Dr. Kurt Ribisl (UNC, Health Behavior): Dr. Ribisl serves as Director of the Cancer Prevention and Control Research Network at the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.
- Ms. Allison Myers (Counter Tobacco): Ms. Meyers is co-founder of Counter Tobacco, the CounterTobacco.org website, and also serves as Deputy Director of the startup nonprofit Counter Tools.
- Dr. Kate Tulenko (Intrahealth International): Dr. Tulenko currently serves as IntraHealth International’s senior director of health systems innovation, as well as director of CapacityPlus.
- Dr. Peter Lamptey (FHI360): Dr.Lamptey is a distinguished scientist and president emeritus at FHI360.
