UNC’s Gillings School of Global Public Health announced that CPC Fellow Penny Gordon-Larsen has been awarded a Gillings Innovation Laboratory. The announcement was included in its “2014 in review” email which was sent to the School’s faculty and students.

The announcement says:

“The gift from Dennis and Joan Gillings. Our Gillings Visiting Professors, Don Holzworth, MS, Leah Devlin, DDS, and Sheila Leatherman, MSW, have been vital assets, helping us to form new partnerships, build businesses, and examine our opportunities in disciplined, thoughtful ways. Thank you! We held a Schoolwide competition for the next round of Gillings Innovation Laboratories (GILs). After reviews by experts within and external to the School and discussion within the Chairs’ Committee, it was agreed to fund four new GILs. Leads for these are Ed Fisher, PhD (professor, health behavior); Jill Stewart, PhD (professor, environmental sciences and engineering); Penny Gordon-Larsen, PhD (professor, nutrition) and Jennifer Smith, PhD (associate professor, epidemiology).”
