Margaret “Peggy” Bentley has been selected to win the 2017 Triangle Global Health Champion Award from the Triangle Global Health Consortium.

On April 3, the Triangle Global Health Consortium announced the 2017 award winners and issued a press release about Bentley and the other award winners. Bentley was selected “in recognition of her life-long commitment to advancing global health around the world and here in our local community. Her work has focused on the fields of women and infant’s nutrition, infant and young child feeding, behavioral research on sexually transmitted diseases, HIV, and community-based interventions for nutrition and health.”

Bentley is Chamblee Distinguished Professor of Nutrition at UNC and is a Carolina Population Center Faculty Fellow. In addition, she is the Associate Dean for UNC’s Global Health and the Associate Director of UNC’s Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases.

Bentley will accept the Triangle Global Health Champion award on May 2, during the annual Triangle Global Health Award Celebration
