Carolina Population Center Faculty Fellow Michael E. Emch has been appointed as UNC’s W. R. Kenan, Jr. Distinguished Professor.

The appointment was made by UNC’s Board of Trustees and the Provost.

Emch is a Professor of Geography at UNC, and is the department’s chair. An announcement posted by the Geography Department says: “This permanent distinguished professorship is one of the most prestigious and visible honors that the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill can bestow upon a member of the faculty and a symbol of the value of his research and scholarship.”
